Response to Kaffe Matthews Performance

The water was in my ears. It was inside every orifice of my body. I was drowning. The water swelled behind me. It was far away. It can back in waves of pitter pattering. I could smell her on his hands. I could smell him on her hands. Except they were across the room from me. And the water roared overhead. I took deep breaths. Water filled my lungs. It was clean and refreshing. It was full of fish. Fish were laying eggs in my lungs. And their smell was in the air. In the water. On my hands too. I opened my eyes to make sure I wasn’t the only person left. They others were still there. And the water swelled overhead. And it came in waves. One after the other. Some stronger. Some from behind. Some far away.
