Amsterdam, (Last) Day 10

Walked around Amsterdam today. Saw some parts I hadn't yet been to. We ended up at Museumpleine, the big park in the middle of all these museums with the I AMSTERDAM sign in it.

None of the streets here are really tree lined. There might be a few plants here and there, but really not as much as I have seen in the states, so when we came across this street lined with these oddly trimmed trees, I just had to take a picture of it.

Also realized that I hadn't taken any pictures of STEIM. This is STEIM.

Going back to Bmore tomorrow. Sad. But I also can't wait to see everyone and share my adventures.

Amsterdam, Day 9

Walked around the Arnold Cuyp Market today and then went to this amazing, huge record store. After that we went to this brewery that is in a windmill. The beer was delicious.

Bought my beer at the local grocery store. I couldn't believe they had it there! The one near STEIM didn't have it.

Amsterdam, Day 8

After spending the morning in the studio jamming, we went out to Kattenkabinet. Kattenkabinet is a museum of cat art. The guy started it after his beloved cat died. It is located in his house. The owner of the museum lives on the third floor and they rent out rooms on the fourth floor for short term stays, mostly tourists rent them.

After going to Kattenkabinet, we got food and ate in Rembrandt square. Then we headed back to STEIM. Our performance was that evening. It went really well. I started out solo on my theremin and then one by one everyone else came in. My project didn't turn out how I wanted it, as it didn't work at all, and I had to play my little mockup one instead of a soft one. But I have finally figured out how to make it work as a soft one and will be remaking my soft theremin for my performance at the Vigil. And hopefully I can do the routine I had originally intended for STEIM.

Amsterdam, Day 7

Saw about two hours of sunlight today. Spent the rest of my time holed away in the studio. Had to remake my circuit. Fun times to be had for all!

Amsterdam, Day 6

 Outside LOODS6
Spent most of the day in the studio and then went to visit the studio of Margret Wibmer. She has been working a lot with found objects and performance as well as photography, which is what she is mainly doing now.

After viewing Margret's studio, I met up with the group and we went to the Red Light District. No photography is allowed.

We walked around the Red Light District for a while. It is so incredibly touristy. They have set it up like a trap. After walking around for a bit, we sat down at a bar and they just so happened to have de Koninck on tap. And then I stole the glass they served it in.
